Thrombosis UK invites primary care practices and primary care networks (PCNs), to take part in a Quality Improvement learning through audit programme.
Focusing on the pathway to VTE diagnosis ‘Detect VTE’ QI project is open to applications from UK primary care providers. Registration of interest to be part of this project must be received by 31st December 2023 with meetings leading to initiation of the QI learning audit in January 2024.
Participation in this opportunity if being offered FREE of charge. Each participating practise will receive a full report sharing data and learning gained during the QI programme undertaken in their practice which can be submitted as part of their GP and CQC revalidation work.
No costs and minimum work burden for the practice staff.
As an outcome of this programme, if a clinical solutions tool to aid early identification of VTE is developed, participating practices will be invited to trial this, free of charge. The end goal being to make this available free of charge to NHS providers.
Venous thromboembolic events have a life-long impact. Related complications are frequent and include pulmonary hyper-tension, post thrombotic syndrome and increased risk thrombotic risk.
It is expected that learning as a result of this work will:
· Improved prevention of catastrophic, sudden, premature, death which is almost wholly preventable.
· Expected improvement in patient outcomes and experience.
